A dog is a man's best friend and many people have a dog and often need a place such as the garden for them to run.  Dogs need exercise, and if you've got the space, you can integrate landscaping ideas with dog run areas for the most efficient use of the space. You might have a wonderfully trained dog, but even the best trained dogs sometimes wander off. My own dog has done so a coupe of times all it takes is a squirrel or a cat to catch his attention and he is ready to give chase.  Luckily we have a high fence otherwise I am sure he would have jumped it by now and run of in  pursuit of the cat or squirrel and the adventure it brings - even now he is 11 he still loves to chase squirrels in the woods.

If you've got a dog prone to tunneling and digging, make sure to check for holes on a daily basis and check on your dog as often as you can when he or she is outdoors. When it comes to the landscape for your dog run, the best thing to have is flat, grassy land. The last thing you want is flowers that your dog can tear up. Not only that, but many plants and flowers are toxic to pets. If you do plant flowers, plants or shrubs make absolutely certain they are safe if your dog happens to eat them.

Trees make a nice addition to your dog run. You can even line your dog run area with trees to create visual interest and add shade. On hot summer days, if your dog is anything like mine he will love to lay outside under the sghade ands just watch the world go by well until he sees a squirrel or something.  . It is very important to provide fresh, cold water for your dog each and every day, especially when they are outdoors. If you are concerned about dog waste and urine creating brown patches in your grass, there are special treatments you can use on your lawn to keep it looking green and beautiful.
